Kristen Welch is a Lecturer at the University of Arizona, where she has taught college-level writing courses for over twenty-two years. She began teaching at the university as a graduate student in 2002 and returned as a faculty associate in 2012. She currently teaches Advanced Composition and other writing-intensive courses on the Main Campus.
Her research centers on rhetoric and composition with a strong emphasis on feminist perspectives. Key areas include women's rhetorics, the historical role of female preachers in securing women's right to public speech in the U.S., the educational impact of women's seminaries and academies, and the power of visual rhetoric in shaping gender perceptions. Her recently published book, Meet Me on the Battlefield, serves as both an introduction to feminist history and theory for college students and a platform for her interdisciplinary research.
Kristen Welch holds a Ph.D. in Rhetoric, Composition, and the Teaching of English. Her teaching portfolio includes Technical Writing, Professional Writing, and Advanced Composition. While no formal advisees or scientific awards are listed, her scholarly work demonstrates sustained engagement with gender, education, and rhetorical power. She continues to contribute actively to composition studies through teaching and publication.
