Kristen Welch is a Lecturer at the University of Arizona, where she has taught college-level writing courses for over twenty-two years. She began teaching at the university as a graduate student in 2002 and returned as a faculty associate in 2012. She currently teaches Advanced Composition and other writing-intensive courses on the Main Campus.
Her research centers on rhetoric and composition with a strong emphasis on feminist perspectives. Key areas include women's rhetorics, the historical role of female preachers in securing women's right to public speech in the U.S., the educational impact of women's seminaries and academies, and the power of visual rhetoric in shaping gender perceptions.
