Kristen Hixon is a Lecturer in the Department of Foundation Studies and English at Charleston Southern University, where she teaches Fundamentals of Writing and Mechanics, Composition and Rhetoric, and Composition with Introduction to Literature. She earned her BA in English and Psychology from Charleston Southern University (2014) and an MA in English from Clemson University (2017). Her research spans Southern Literature, Contemporary American Literature, Ecocriticism, and Digital Humanities.
- 2019: ‘Nurturing ‘The Daisy in the South’’ explores Civil War memory in poetic landscapes.
- 2018: Analyzed gender and identity in ‘The Wind Done Gone’ and ‘Kindred’.
- 2016: Investigated digital rhetoric and spatial theory in ‘Margins’.
- 2015: Examined existential themes in Walker Percy’s ‘The Moviegoer’.
- 2014: Presented interdisciplinary work on profanity, poetry, and historical narratives.

Her work integrates digital rhetoric, existential philosophy, and southern cultural studies, with a focus on marginalized voices and historical representation. She also engages in interdisciplinary research connecting language use to social psychology. Outside academia, she enjoys mystery novels, hiking, and beach activities with her dog, Heidi.
