Danielle Walters is an Assistant Professor of English and Bridge Program Chair at Charleston Southern University (CSU), where she has taught since 2011. She holds an MFA in Creative Writing and an MA in English from Chapman University, alongside a Teaching English as a Second Language Certificate.

Her academic interests focus on American literature, composition studies, and creative writing. Walters has presented research at conferences including the Association for Writers and Writing Programs (AWP), South Carolina Association of Developmental Education (SCDE), Society of Comparative Literature and the Arts (SCLA), and South Atlantic Modern Language Association (SAMLA).
She is the author of the award-winning novel Cut the Thread, which received the 2016 Plaza Literary Prize from the 1888 Center. Additionally, she serves as co-advisor to Sefer, CSU’s student literary magazine, and integrates her faith into teaching within a liberal-arts-inspired environment.
