Kristen Mallia is an Assistant Professor of Art & Design at Suffolk University. Her work focuses on experimental design and multimedia installation, emphasizing interdisciplinary approaches in studio education. She holds an MFA from Boston University and dual degrees (BFA in Art, BA in another field) from Corcoran College of Art + Design and The George Washington University.
Her research and creative practice explore themes of memory, displacement, and collaborative art-making. Notable projects include solo exhibitions like Memory Device (Frame 301 Gallery, 2020) and curatorial initiatives such as nexus (Midway Gallery, 2021). She has participated in residencies including Skaftfell Center for Visual Art in Iceland and presented at venues like SMFA at Tufts University.
Mallia has received grants such as the 2019 Opportunity Fund Grant from Boston's Mayor’s Office of Arts and Culture. Her teaching spans foundational to graduate-level graphic design courses, emphasizing conceptual typography and experimental design methodologies.
