University of Ottawaمعرفی
Dr. Krista Anne Power is an Associate Professor at the School of Nutrition Sciences, University of Ottawa, with Adjunct Professor roles at the University of Guelph and University of Toronto. Her research focuses on dietary modulation of intestinal health and chronic disease prevention, particularly in inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), obesity, and systemic inflammation.
- BSc in Nutrition/Biochemistry, Memorial University of Newfoundland
- MSc and PhD in Nutritional Science, University of Toronto
- Post-doctoral fellowships at University of Turku (EU CASCADE) and Karolinska Institute
Her work investigates how bioactive food components like flaxseed, common beans, and apples alter gut microbiota, mucosal barrier integrity, and immune responses using in vivo, ex vivo, and in vitro models. Current projects funded by NSERC, Ontario Research Fund, and OMFRA explore flaxseed ideotypes, bean genomic breeding, and apple consumption in gut health and metabolic dysfunction mitigation.
Recent publications (2018–2015) emphasize diet-microbiome interactions, anti-inflammatory diets, and phytochemical impacts on colonic barrier function and obesity-related inflammation. She actively recruits trainees and leads collaborative projects with institutions like the University of Guelph.
