Dr. Lindsay Robinson is a Professor in the Department of Human Health and Nutritional Sciences at the University of Guelph. Her research focuses on the integration of diet and exercise in mediating metabolic processes in health and chronic diseases, particularly obesity and type 2 diabetes. She holds a B.Sc. from Acadia University and a Ph.D. from the University of Alberta, followed by an NSERC Postdoctoral Fellowship at the University of Guelph.
Her work examines adipose tissue-derived cytokines (adipokines) and their roles in metabolic communication between tissues. Current projects investigate the effects of n-3/n-6 fatty acids, exercise, and dietary interventions on inflammation and insulin resistance. Her lab is funded by NSERC and the Canadian Foundation for Innovation.
Key research contributions include studies on omega-3 fatty acids’ anti-inflammatory effects, adiponectin regulation, and the role of dietary components like navy beans and apples in mitigating metabolic dysfunction. She has supervised MSc students in these areas and collaborates widely in nutritional biochemistry.
Her publications span over two decades, emphasizing translational research between basic science and clinical applications. Awards and grants reflect sustained excellence in metabolic nutrition research.
