Dr. David J. Dyck is a Professor in the Department of Human Health and Nutritional Sciences at the University of Guelph. His research focuses on the hormonal regulation of skeletal muscle lipid and carbohydrate metabolism, particularly in the context of obesity and diabetes. He holds memberships in the Canadian and American Physiological Societies.
Education: B.Sc., M.Sc., and Ph.D. from the University of Guelph. Postdoctoral training at the University of Waterloo. Joined Guelph faculty in 1998.
Research Interests: Adipokine (leptin, adiponectin) signaling in muscle, insulin resistance mechanisms, and the interplay between diet, exercise, and metabolic health. Notable work includes studying adiponectin's role in exercise-induced metabolic adaptations and ghrelin's effects on fatty acid oxidation.
Teaching: Courses include BIOL*1080 (Biological Concepts of Health) and advanced research modules in Human Biology & Nutritional Sciences.
