معرفی
Roger S. McLeod is a Professor in the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at Dalhousie University’s Faculty of Medicine since 1998. His research focuses on lipid metabolism, particularly apolipoprotein B (apoB) regulation in hepatic lipoprotein assembly and adiponectin’s role in insulin sensitivity. He holds a PhD from the University of British Columbia and has authored/co-authored over 30 peer-reviewed articles.
Research Interests
- Molecular mechanisms of apoB assembly and ER-associated degradation (ERAD)
- Adiponectin multimer assembly and secretion regulation
- Impact of dietary fatty acids (e.g., CLA, omega-3) on lipoprotein metabolism
- Liver and adipocyte cross-talk in metabolic diseases
Key Research Themes
- Investigation of how apoB polypeptide sequences influence VLDL lipidation and proteasomal degradation
- Role of adiponectin oligomers in glucose/fatty acid metabolism
- Effects of nutritional interventions (e.g., CLA, salmon peptides) on metabolic syndrome and atherosclerosis
Awards & Funding
Supported by grants from the Canadian Institutes of Health Research and Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada. No named awards explicitly listed.
Lab & Collaborations
Based in the Sir Charles Tupper Medical Building, his lab uses cell culture models (HepG2, McA-RH7777) and rodent studies to investigate lipid metabolism pathways. Collaborations include work on leptin secretion regulation and LCAT enzyme activity.
