Henry N Ginsberg

Henry N Ginsberg, MD, serves as the Herbert and Florence Irving Professor of Medicine at Columbia University and Director Emeritus of the Irving Institute for Clinical & Translational Research. Affiliated with NewYork-Presbyterian / Columbia University Irving Medical Center, he specializes in Endocrinology, Internal Medicine, and Preventive Medicine while actively accepting new patients for clinical care.

His educational background includes a medical degree from State University of New York - Downstate Health Sciences Center, followed by internship and residency at Boston City Hospital, and fellowship training at Stanford University Medical Center.

Dr. Ginsberg's research program investigates molecular regulation of apolipoprotein B-containing lipoproteins, with emphasis on hypertriglyceridemia and dyslipidemia in insulin resistance/diabetes. His laboratory employs tissue culture models, transgenic mice, and human clinical studies to dissect lipid substrate availability, proteasomal degradation pathways, and lipoprotein assembly mechanisms. Current clinical work includes participation in the ACCORD trial examining cardiovascular disease prevention in diabetes.
