Kris Carlisle is a Professor of Music (Piano) at Berry College's Department of Music, part of the Visual and Performing Arts school. He is a professional pianist and educator specializing in contemporary music, renowned for his innovative performances and recordings of new works. His award-winning The American Evolution project explores contemporary American composers' reinterpretations of traditional genres, while recent collaborations like New Stories focus on music by women composers. He also researches intersections between music and architecture, and LGBTQ+ composers' compositional voices.
Education: B.M. from Redlands University, M.M. from San Francisco Conservatory, and D.M.A. from Claremont Graduate University. Teaching focuses on piano performance, music theory, and contemporary music. He founded Berry's New Music Ensemble to encourage student creativity through performance and composition.
