Alexander Thomas is a Visiting Lecturer in Piano at Westfield State University since 2019, teaching Applied, Studio, and Class Piano. A graduate of the University of South Carolina (B.M.), New York University (M.M.), and Hartt School of Music (G.P.D.), he is completing his D.M.A. at Boston University (ABD) focusing on spatialization in Debussy's piano music. He has performed internationally in venues like Symphony Hall (Boston) and Steinway Hall (New York), and founded BU InterStudio to connect students with Boston's music community.

His research explores spatialization techniques in classical piano works, with a focus on Debussy. As a performer, he collaborates with contemporary composers like Michael Finnissy and Nicholas Patrick Quigley, whose compositions he has recorded and premiered.
Mr. Thomas has received the Mary Curtis Hawes Award for academic excellence and teaching contributions. His recordings of Quigley’s Interventions were featured in BU Today, Boston Hassel, and The Herald News.
Currently based in Boston, MA, he balances an active performance career with doctoral research and teaching. He has studied under notable pianists including Marina Lomazov and Alexander Korsantia, and participated in masterclasses with Vladimir Feltsman.
