Koya Ayonrinde

Dr Koya Ayonrinde is a Clinical Associate Professor and Principal Research Fellow at the University of Western Australia (UWA)'s UWA Medical School, specializing in Internal Medicine. He also holds an Adjunct Clinical Professor position at Curtin University and practices as a Gastroenterologist and Hepatologist at Fiona Stanley Hospital. His clinical and research expertise bridges clinical practice and epidemiological studies, with a focus on non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD), metabolic syndrome, and intergenerational health.

Education: He earned his PhD from UWA with a thesis on NAFLD epidemiology in adolescents (Dean’s List), following a Medicine degree and Fellowship from the Royal Australasian College of Physicians.

Research Interests: His work explores the developmental origins of health and disease, particularly NAFLD, liver fibrosis, and cardiometabolic disorders across the life course.
