Trevor Mori

Trevor Mori is a Senior Principal Research Fellow in the Internal Medicine Department of the UWA Medical School at The University of Western Australia. He holds a BSc and PhD from UWA and has been a NHMRC Senior Research Fellow (2008–2022). His research focuses on omega-3 fatty acids, lipid oxidation, inflammation resolution mediators, and the Raine Study—a longitudinal cohort examining cardiovascular and metabolic health from pregnancy to adulthood. He leads a $812K WA Health-funded project investigating primary aldosteronism.

Education: First Class Honours (1980), PhD with Distinction (1985), both from UWA.

Research Interests: Omega-3 fatty acids' cardiovascular effects, lipid oxidation biomarkers (isoprostanes), specialized pro-resolving mediators (SPMs), and the Raine Study's role in understanding cardiometabolic risks. His lab pioneered GCMS and LCMS assays for these biomarkers.

Articles Trends: Recent work includes epigenetic studies of developmental outcomes, dietary fatty acid effects on blood pressure, gut microbiome-liver disease links, and multi-ancestry lipid genetics. His research integrates clinical, genetic, and epigenetic data to address metabolic and cardiovascular risks.

Awards: Medical School Senior Research Award (2022).

Grants/Advising: Over $26M in NHMRC grants since 1989, including >$16M from NHMRC. Supervises 9 students. Collaborates with institutions like Hudson Institute, Baker Heart and Diabetes Institute, and Menzies Institute.
