Kosta Hadavas is an Associate Professor of Classics at Beloit College, with a dual appointment in the Greek, Latin, & Ancient Mediterranean Studies (GLAM) and Media Studies programs. He holds a B.A. from Oberlin College and a Ph.D. from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill.
His research focuses on Greek and Latin language and linguistics, Medieval Latin literature and manuscripts, comparative literature, and film studies (specializing in French New Wave, New Hollywood, sci-fi, female directors, Black cinema, and animation). He emphasizes interdisciplinary approaches, connecting ancient cultures with modern media.
Professor Hadavas teaches courses such as Greek language, Latin literature, ancient drama, medieval studies, and film analysis. He actively involves students as teaching assistants in language, civilization, literary studies, and film courses, advocating for hands-on learning experiences.
He values Beloit College’s flexible academic environment, which fosters intellectual curiosity and cross-disciplinary exploration. His work bridges ancient and modern studies, reflecting a commitment to understanding the past to shape a better future.
