Konrad Renner

Konrad Renner is a Professor of Digital Graphics at HFBK Hamburg, affiliated with the Department of Graphic Art / Typography / Photography since 2017. He studied at the University of Art and Design Burg Giebichenstein in Halle, receiving his diploma in 2011. Renner co-founded the studio Knoth & Renner in 2011, collaborating on projects for institutions like Casco Utrecht, Kunsthalle Zurich, and the Venice Biennale 2015 German Pavilion.

His research focuses on digital graphics, typography, and visual communication. Notable projects include the 2016 Digital Typography initiative, the 2024 The New Woman digital publication exploring female modernist artists, and the 2025 Redesign Democracy competition for democratic representation.

Konrad has taught as an artistic associate in the MA Editorial Design program at Burg Giebichenstein University and served as a visiting lecturer at Berlin University of Arts (UdK). Current work includes leading the PhD in Art Practice program’s artistic research on digital media and health concepts.
