Karla Zipfel

Karla Zipfel is an Artistic Associate in Sculpture, Object, and Installation at the Department of Fine Art, Faculty of Art and Design, Bauhaus-University Weimar. Born in 1993 in Freiburg im Breisgau, she actively explores the ideological intersections of domestic architecture and social dynamics through critical artistic practice.

Research Focus: Zipfel deconstructs bourgeois homeownership ideals ('Schaffe, schaffe, Häusle baue') by fragmenting German residential architecture and 1990s-2000s interior aesthetics. Her work reveals how post-war prosperity promises have collapsed under rising property prices and social inequality, with recent projects examining East German heating technologies and social contexts. Through sculptural reassembly, she exposes the ideological facades of domestic spaces.

Exhibitions: Her work has been featured at Kunsthalle Basel, Deichtorhallen Hamburg, Kunstverein Freiburg, and Kunsthalle Recklinghausen.
