معرفی
Prof. Klaus Pistol is a Professor for Building Materials and Head of the Building Materials Laboratory at FH Potsdam. He holds a Dr.-Ing. from TU Braunschweig and has extensive experience in fire engineering and materials research. Previously, he served as a research assistant at the Federal Institute for Materials Research and Testing (BAM) and conducted a research stay at the Centre Scientifique et Technique du Bâtiment (CSTB) in Paris.
His research focuses on high-temperature behavior of concrete, fire spalling mechanisms, polypropylene fibers in fire-exposed materials, and geopolymer concretes. He has contributed to international standards (e.g., RILEM TC 256-SPF) and authored over 20 peer-reviewed publications. Pistol’s work emphasizes experimental material testing and structural performance under fire conditions.
Key contributions include studies on fire resistance testing methodologies, material screening for spalling, and durability of innovative construction materials. His research bridges fundamental material science with practical applications in civil engineering, particularly in enhancing fire safety and structural integrity.
Advising and grants: Pistol supervises student research projects related to fire-resistant materials and has secured funding for laboratory equipment and international collaborations. His laboratory specializes in advanced thermal and mechanical testing of construction materials.
Labs/Teams: He leads the Building Materials Laboratory at FH Potsdam, focusing on experimental analysis of materials under extreme conditions. Collaborations include institutions like TU Braunschweig and BAM.
