معرفی
Kitt Petersen is Professor of Internal Medicine (Endocrinology) at Yale University School of Medicine, with joint appointments as Honorary Professor of Medicine and Clinical Physiology at the University of Copenhagen and Deputy Director of Metabolic Imaging and Liver Metabolism at Copenhagen University's Center for Basic Metabolic Research. She holds an MD from the University of Copenhagen (1985) and completed advanced fellowships in metabolism at Copenhagen (1986-1991) and Yale (1990).
Her research focuses on metabolic disorders using MR spectroscopy and stable isotopes, with emphasis on:
- NAFLD and type 2 diabetes pathogenesis
- Insulin resistance mechanisms in aging, obesity, and low birth weight
- Metabolic effects of caloric restriction and exercise
- Hepatic mitochondrial function and lipid metabolism
Recent publications (2020-2025) demonstrate strong focus on hepatic metabolic pathways, insulin resistance mechanisms, and therapeutic interventions for steatohepatitis, using both human and rodent models. Research consistently integrates molecular biology with clinical translation.
Major scientific honors include:
- Henry Christian Award for Clinical Research (1997, 1998, 2004)
- Novartis Young Investigator Award (2002)
- American Diabetes Association Distinguished Scientist Award (2009)
- Team Science Award from ACTS (2016)
As Deputy Director at Copenhagen's Center for Basic Metabolic Research, she leads investigations into liver metabolism and metabolic imaging techniques.
