Kirk A. Bingaman is a Professor of Mental Health Counseling and Spiritual Integration at Fordham University's Graduate School of Religion and Religious Education. He holds a Ph.D. and is a licensed mental health counselor (LMHC) in New York, an ordained minister in the Presbyterian Church (USA), and a psychotherapist member of the Association for Clinical Pastoral Education (ACPE). His research focuses on neuroscience applications in pastoral care, digital age challenges to spirituality, and climate emergency psychology.
- Former co-chair of the Psychology, Culture, and Religion (PCR) group at the American Academy of Religion (AAR)
- Editor-in-Chief of Pastoral Psychology (since 2021)
- Former editor of the Emerging Perspectives in Pastoral Theology and Care book series
Recent work includes exploring AI/digital technology's impact on religion and climate crisis psychology. He has held visiting scholar roles at institutions in Italy (2018–2022) and participated in Fordham's 2023 Faculty Research Abroad Program in the Philippines.
