Professor Kiran Trehan is a nationally and internationally recognized academic leader in entrepreneurship, enterprise development, and business diversity. Elected President of the Institute for Small Business and Entrepreneurship (ISBE) on November 14, 2019, she spearheads research and policy initiatives shaping SME landscapes. In 2018, she served as lead commissioner on the West Midlands Leadership Commission, producing a report commended by Prime Minister Theresa May and featured in Times Higher Education.
Her research bridges academic theory and business practice, focusing on leadership diversity, enterprise ecosystems, and inclusive business models. She converts academic insights into actionable policy through extensive collaborations with government bodies, Local Enterprise Partnerships, Chambers of Commerce, and private sector stakeholders. Her work pioneers frameworks for widening participation in entrepreneurship across marginalized communities.
