Dr. Kimberly Wieser-Weryackwe is a Professor of English at the University of Oklahoma, with affiliations in Native Studies and Environmental Studies. She serves as co-chair of the American Indian Caucus for NCTE/CCCC and Managing Editor at Constellations: A Cultural Rhetorics Publishing Space. During Spring 2024, she holds the Watson Distinguished Visiting Professorship at the University of Louisville, teaching a graduate seminar on Indigenous Rhetorics and delivering a public lecture on Cherokee rhetorics in Kentucky.
Her research focuses on American Indian literacies, cultural rhetorics, and antiracist pedagogy. Major works include Back to the Blanket (winner of the 2004 Louis Little Coon Oliver First Book Award) and co-authored Reasoning Together. She leads interdisciplinary projects like Continuing Comanche Culture, funded by the Library of Congress, which documents Indigenous craft practices through digital media.
Wieser-Weryackwe co-edited four antiracism-focused special issues in journals like College Composition and Communication and Rhetoric Review, and is developing a Twine-based video game exploring Cherokee treaty negotiations. Her creative work includes poetry, screenwriting, and acting roles in TV/film productions.
