Dr. Kimberly King is a Clinical Associate Professor in the Department of Counseling and Higher Education at the University of North Texas (UNT), where she also serves as the Clinic Director of the Counseling and Human Development Center. She is a Licensed Professional Counselor and Supervisor in Texas and a Registered Play Therapist with over 20 years of clinical experience across private practice and multi-agency clinical settings.
Her expertise lies in clinical training, play therapy, and adolescent mental health. She teaches doctoral and master's level courses including practicum, play therapy, group counseling, and counseling adolescents, contributing significantly to counselor education.
Dr. King is actively involved in professional leadership as the President-Elect of the Texas Association for Play Therapy and has presented her work nationally and internationally, reflecting her engagement in the broader counseling community.
She has extensive experience in clinical supervision and training, having directed over five agency clinics prior to joining UNT. Her work bridges academic instruction with real-world clinical application, enhancing both student development and community mental health services.
The Counseling and Human Development Center at UNT, under her direction, serves as a key training and service hub for graduate students and the local community.
