Dr. Erin West serves as Associate Professor and founding Chair of the Counseling Department at Baldwin Wallace University, where she is a licensed professional counselor and certified school counselor in Ohio with extensive clinical experience across community mental health agencies, university counseling centers, and PreK-12 schools.
Her educational credentials include:
- Ph.D. in Counselor Education from Kent State University
- M.Ed. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Kent State University
- B.A. from Kent State University
West specializes in counseling program development, assessment, and accreditation, with research and clinical expertise in child/adolescent mental health using person-centered, solution-focused, narrative, and play-based therapeutic approaches. Her work emphasizes integrating counselor education with community engagement to enhance mental health services in educational settings.
She received the U.S. Department of Education Mental Health Service Professional Demonstration Grant ($1.9 million) to improve school-based mental health services in rural East Texas.
As a practitioner-educator, West supervises counseling students in practicum/internship using developmental and strengths-based methods, teaches core courses including Counseling Children and Adolescents and Foundations and Ethics, and provides community trainings on child/adolescent mental health and counselor ethics.
