Kimberley Aarts serves as a Lecturer-Researcher at the Faculty of Management and Business, Leiden University of Applied Sciences, specializing in the Commercial Economics program. She recently joined the Knowledge Centre for Applied Broad Prosperity to advance research on holistic societal well-being beyond economic metrics.
Her academic credentials include a Research Master's degree in ICT in Business and the Public Sector from Leiden University of Applied Sciences.
Kimberley's research focuses on redefining prosperity through interdisciplinary lenses, integrating business economics with public sector challenges. She emphasizes purpose-driven methodologies and real-world applications, particularly in market research and ICT-driven societal solutions. Her work bridges academic theory with practical implementation to address systemic well-being gaps.
As an educator, she teaches Purpose-Driven Research and Market Research 2 to first- and second-year students while supervising fourth-year graduation projects. She recently co-led a curriculum redesign to strengthen practice-oriented research components across foundational courses. Within the Knowledge Centre for Applied Broad Prosperity, she collaborates with industry partners to develop frameworks for inclusive economic models that prioritize human and ecological dimensions.
