Christine Carabain serves as Lecturer in Broad Prosperity at the Applied Broad Prosperity knowledge center within the Faculty of Management and Business at Leiden University of Applied Sciences, commencing January 1, 2025. With professional experience since 2007 at institutions including the Social and Cultural Planning Office and Social Impact Team, she specializes in translating broad prosperity concepts into practical organizational tools.
Her research centers on two interconnected themes: creating healthy living environments encompassing physical and digital dimensions, and building inclusive societies through equal opportunities and accessibility. Christine frames broad prosperity as an essential analytical lens exposing societal dilemmas beyond narrow economic metrics, emphasizing holistic consideration of environmental, social, and intergenerational impacts in decision-making processes.
Complementing her academic role, she holds governance positions as Member of the Supervisory Board for Children's Stamps Foundation and Member of the Programme Council for Creative Industries Stimulation Fund. Her public advocacy includes a March 10, 2025 flash lecture during Leiden's education funding protests, where she articulated education's fundamental role in achieving tomorrow's prosperity through improved quality of life.
