Kimb Massey is a Professor of Radio-Television-Film (RTVF) at San José State University (SJSU), affiliated with the College of Humanities & Arts. She is a faculty advisor to KSJS 90.5 FM, SJSU's award-winning radio station. Dr. Massey entered the Faculty Early Retirement Program (FERP) and maintains active roles in teaching, research, and university governance.

- MA in Broadcast Communication Arts (Media Law), San Francisco State University
- BS in Radio-Television-Film, University of Texas at Austin
Research Focus: Dr. Massey's work centers on mass communication, media literacy, global media trends, digital communication strategies, and audience interaction analysis. She emphasizes media effects, representation, and equity in media content. Her research methodologies blend qualitative and quantitative approaches.
International Engagement: She has held visiting roles at Germany’s IJK Institut für Journalistik und Kommunikationsforschung and led SJSU study-abroad programs in Bath, England. Her collaborations include work with Real World Multimedia (Peter Gabriel’s initiative).
Recognition & Service: Dr. Massey has secured grants and awards, including the Distinguished American Lectureship Grant. She has held leadership roles at SJSU, including interim chair of Film and Theatre, Associate Vice Chair of the Senate, and committee service across university levels.
Teaching & Advocacy: She teaches special topics courses on media and culture (e.g., Media & the Planet Crisis, Star Trek’s Cultural Impact). A passionate advocate for media equity, she empowers audiences and content creators to foster prosocial media.
