Jessie Pickett is an Adjunct Professor in the School of Journalism and Mass Communication at San José State University (SJSU), where she also serves as the Electronic and Print News Technology Specialist. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communication from Western Illinois University (1992) and a General Class FCC License (1985). Her career spans over three decades in broadcast engineering, including roles as Chief Engineer at radio stations, TV maintenance and production engineer, and Engineer in Charge of Remote Television at WGN TV/AM. At SJSU, she focuses on modernizing the department’s technology infrastructure for news, TV, radio, and online platforms while pursuing a PhD in Mass Communication.

Her expertise includes broadcast engineering, digital automation systems, satellite/microwave feeds, and media production. She teaches videography and digital media production for broadcast and web. She currently leads technology upgrades for the next generation of journalism tools at SJSU.
