Joseph Kasko is an Associate Professor in the Department of Mass Communication at Winthrop University's College of Arts and Sciences. His professional background includes over 15 years in broadcasting roles such as host, news anchor, and station manager at NPR affiliate stations and commercial networks. He holds a Ph.D. and M.M.C. from the University of South Carolina and a B.A. in Film, Television & Theatre from the University of Notre Dame.

His research focuses on community-building through media dialogue, public broadcasting's role in civic engagement, and political communication dynamics. Murrow Award and multiple Best Metro-Radio Reporter accolades.
Teaching spans courses in multimedia storytelling, convergent journalism, and digital culture. He advises Winthrop's student radio station Eagle Air and has held leadership roles at prominent college radio stations including WSND-FM (Notre Dame), WUSC-FM (South Carolina), and WBNY-FM (SUNY Buffalo State).
