Kim McLaurin

Kim McLaurin serves as Associate Dean for Academic Affairs and Clinical Professor of Law at Suffolk University School of Law, teaching the Juvenile Defender seminar and co-teaching the Marshall Brennan Constitutional Literacy seminar.

Her research specializes in juvenile justice systems, constitutional law, and child protection frameworks. With extensive practical experience from her tenure at the Legal Aid Society of New York City, she examines systemic issues like juvenile shackling practices and evolving legal standards in family court proceedings. Her scholarship advocates for evidence-based reforms in juvenile delinquency representation and child welfare interventions.

Prior to academia, Professor McLaurin directed the Juvenile Rights Division in Queens, managing a forty-attorney interdisciplinary team handling juvenile delinquency and child protective cases across Family Court proceedings.
