Dr. Kevin Sobel-Read is an Associate Professor at the School of Law and Justice, University of Newcastle, Australia. With a dual background in law (JD from NYU) and cultural anthropology (PhD from Duke), he bridges corporate legal practice with critical anthropological analysis of sovereignty, Indigenous rights, and global value chains (GVCs). His work examines the intersection of commerce, legal systems, and sovereignty, particularly focusing on how GVCs transform international trade and how small nations maintain autonomy in a globalized world.
