Dr Kevin Proudfoot is a Senior Lecturer in Teacher Education (Pedagogy, Praxis & Faith) at the University of Glasgow. He serves as Programme Leader for the EdD (Doctorate in Education) and previously led the MSc (Online) Education programme. Proudfoot is affiliated with the Centre for Teaching Excellence (Scottish Government-funded) and holds a Fellowship at the Centre for Transformative Change in Schools (CenTCS).

His research focuses on educators’ professional learning under accountability pressures, employing mixed methods and critical theoretical frameworks. He has pioneered methodological approaches like inductive/deductive hybrid thematic analysis, with his 2013 JMMR article cited over 500 times.
Proudfoot has published extensively in Q1 journals such as Journal of Education Policy, Comparative Education, and British Journal of Sociology of Education. His work analyzes how neoliberal accountability reshapes teacher motivation and professional autonomy.
