Dr. Kevin Pate is a tenured Professor of Chemistry at Marietta College since 2006, holding the prestigious McCoy Professorship (2006 and 2018), the institution’s highest teaching honor. He joined the faculty in 2001 after post-doctoral work at Kansas State University. His teaching focuses on Organic Chemistry, General Chemistry, and Capstone courses, employing innovative methods like flipped classrooms and guided-inquiry labs. He developed over 70 instructional videos during a 2015 sabbatical for Organic Chemistry courses.
- Research: Collaborates on synthesizing organic molecules for biochemistry and inorganic chemistry projects, mentoring students who presented at national ACS meetings (2015–2017).
- Leadership: Served as Chair of the Chemistry Department (2008–2013) and later as Chair of the expanded Chemistry and Biochemistry Department (2017–present).曾担任Faculty Council主席(2009年)。
Awarded multiple teaching and advising honors, including the Student Senate’s Outstanding Faculty Award (2017). His service includes roles on academic committees, Science Fair leadership (2003–2009), and national ACS governance, including the Membership Affairs Committee.
Personal: Resides in Vincent, Ohio, with his wife Michelle and three children. Engages in outdoor activities like camping and hiking.
