Dr. Kimberly Suzanne George Parsons is a tenured Professor of Chemistry and Biochemistry at Marietta College, holding the Gilde-Grose Distinguished Professor in the Sciences (2023) and the McCoy Teaching Excellence Professorship (2016). She joined the faculty in 2010 and specializes in apoptotic cell death signaling pathways, particularly focusing on paraben-induced effects in melanoma cells. Her research collaborations include work with Dr. K. Pate’s lab on paraben derivatives. She teaches Biochemistry, General Chemistry, and Capstone courses, emphasizing hands-on research with undergraduates. As Director of the Investigative Studies Program, she promotes undergraduate research through funding, conference travel, and organizing All Scholars Day. Awards include the Edward G. Harness Outstanding Educator Award (2014) and Advising in the Major Award (2017). Her family includes her husband Dr. Eric Parsons and two daughters, Lily and Emmy, sharing hobbies like gardening, hiking, and baking.
