Kevin Mak is a Lecturer in Management at the Stanford Graduate School of Business (GSB) and Director of the Real-Time Analysis and Investment Lab (RAIL). His primary role involves teaching MBA-level courses, overseeing RAIL operations, and developing experiential learning programs. He holds a Master of Finance (2010) and Bachelor of Commerce (2005) from the University of Toronto, and is a Chartered Financial Analyst.
Research interests include market microstructure, arbitrage strategies, asset pricing, and the application of experiential learning in finance education. He has authored numerous case studies on topics such as behavioral finance, algorithmic trading, and portfolio management, which are used in Stanford's RAIL facility and global educational programs.
Awarded the MBA Class of 1978 Lecturer distinction (2019–2020), his professional roles extend beyond academia, including advising firms like MassDrop and 306W Inc., and managing a private investment fund. He also co-founded the Rotman International Trading Competition and led the development of the Rotman Interactive Trader (RIT) platform.
Kevin’s teaching focuses on financial trading strategies, executive education, and bridging academic theory with real-world market practices. His work emphasizes hands-on learning through simulations, data analysis, and decision-making under uncertainty.
