Kevin Finch is an associate professor of journalism at Washington and Lee University, where he has served since 2013. He combines academic credentials with extensive media industry experience, producing documentaries that bridge journalism and cultural history. His notable work includes the award-winning film Wes Bound: The Genius of Wes Montgomery, which won a silver award at the 2024 New York Festivals. Finch holds a BS in Radio-Television from Murray State University (2013) and an MA in Public Affairs Reporting from the University of Illinois Springfield.
His research focuses on documentary filmmaking, jazz history, and biographical narratives. Beyond academia, Finch operates Jukeboxer Productions, which produced Wes Bound. The film explored the legacy of jazz guitarist Wes Montgomery, featuring interviews with family, collaborators, and industry figures. Finch’s work emphasizes storytelling that connects historical figures to broader cultural impacts.
