Kev Harris is an Associate Professor in Sports Management at Hartpury University, where he plays a leading role in evaluation research and academic leadership within the College of Sport. He is a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and holds a PhD focused on collaborative evaluation approaches in sport settings. His work is deeply embedded in practical applications, particularly through the Hartpury Sports Business Hub and national partnerships with Sport England.
His research centers on evidence-based practices, realist and collaborative evaluation methods, sport for development, public health, and knowledge exchange between academia and practice. He has published extensively in these areas, most notably as co-editor of the first comprehensive book on Evaluation in Sport and Leisure (Routledge, 2024), which has become a key reference in the field. His recent publications explore theory of change, social return on investment, whole-of-systems evaluation, and the political dimensions of evaluation in sport.
Harris leads the academic evaluation of Active Essex’s Local Delivery Pilot and contributes to the National Evaluation and Learning Partnership for Sport England. He also supervises PhD students and teaches on the MSc in Sports Management, delivering modules on real-world issues, evaluation, and consultancy. His work emphasizes co-production with practitioners and improving the social impact of sport and leisure initiatives.
