Ketav Kulkarni is a Research Fellow in the Department of Biochemistry & Molecular Biology at Monash University. His work focuses on peptide-based nanomaterials, self-assembly mechanisms, and their applications in drug delivery, regenerative medicine, and infectious disease control. He has contributed to projects such as developing novel ACE2-targeting inhibitors for SARS coronaviruses and exploring β-peptide scaffolds for neural tissue engineering.
His research integrates biomaterials science with molecular biology, emphasizing the design of functional materials for biomedical applications. Key projects include the synthesis of peptide hydrogels for cell delivery, development of anti-bacterial nanofibers, and characterization of peptide-nanoparticle interactions. He collaborates internationally on topics ranging from cardiovascular drug discovery to SARS-CoV-2 inhibition strategies.
Kulkarni actively advises PhD students and has secured grants including a 2020-2021 project on SARS-CoV-2 inhibitors. His work bridges basic science and translational medicine, addressing global health challenges through innovative biomaterials and peptide engineering.
