Dr. Ketan Parmar is a Lecturer in Postgraduate Optometry at The University of Manchester, specializing in autism and vision accessibility. He holds a PhD (2022) and MSc (2018) in Optometry from the same institution. His research focuses on optimizing eyecare for autistic adults, visual stress, and medical retina. He currently leads the IOVS Research Dissertation unit and co-supervises a PhD student. His teaching spans undergraduate and postgraduate courses including Binocular Vision, Medical Retina, and Qualitative Research Methods. He is the Optometry CPD Lead, organizing workshops and examinations. External roles include Regional President of Sri Sathya Sai Organisation UK and consultancy with the Greater Manchester Primary Care Provider Board.
Research interests include autism-friendly eyecare protocols, clinical performance of contact lenses, and refractive errors in neurodiverse populations. Awards include Best Oral Presentation (2019) and MSci Research Project Award (2018). His work contributes to UN SDGs related to education and health equity. Ongoing projects include a pilot study on visual stress and collaboration with the Autism@Manchester initiative.
