معرفی
Kerstin Bouma is a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Section for Biodiversity, Globe Institute, Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences, University of Copenhagen. Her work bridges ecological research and practical nature management, with expertise in wetland ecosystems and dynamic restoration processes.
Education:
- Bachelor and Master in Biology, Wageningen University (WUR)
- Master thesis at University of Jyväskyla (Finland) on predator cues and bank vole behaviour
- PhD at Netherlands Institute of Ecology (NIOO-KNAW) on water level dynamics in wetlands (completed 2024)
Research Focus: Kerstin specializes in nature restoration through field-based studies of wetland functioning, particularly examining water level fluctuations, grazing impacts, and ecological monitoring. Her approach integrates experimental fieldwork with practitioner collaboration to ensure scientific relevance for real-world management. Current work in the Naturmål project develops indicators for dynamic restoration frameworks like rewilding.
Funding: The Naturmål project is supported by Aage v. Jensen Naturfond and the 15-Juni fonden in Denmark, emphasizing researcher-manager partnerships for actionable science.
Team Affiliation: As part of the Biodiversity section at the Globe Institute, she contributes to cross-disciplinary efforts in ecological monitoring and nature restoration strategy development.
