Dr. Kernaghan Webb is an Associate Professor in the Law and Business department at Toronto Metropolitan University and Director of the Toronto Metropolitan University Institute for the Study of Corporate Social Responsibility. He holds LLB, LLM, and LLD (PhD in law) degrees. His research focuses on regulatory innovation, corporate social responsibility (CSR), and the intersection of law with business practices, particularly in the mining sector and consumer protection. He has contributed to international standards like ISO 26000 and serves on ISO committees for anti-bribery management systems and sustainable procurement.
Education: LLB, LLM, LLD (PhD in Law).
Research interests include law, regulation, compliance, CSR, sustainability, standards, and voluntary codes. His work on regulatory offenses has influenced Canadian Supreme Court rulings. He advises governments and organizations on CSR and regulatory strategies, including roles with the UN Global Compact and the federal Extractive Sector CSR Strategy. He received the 2012 National Award of Excellence from the Standards Council of Canada.
Teaching courses cover business law, consumer protection, securities law, and CSR in mining. His contributions span academic publications, policy advising, and leadership in standard-setting bodies.
