Dr. Kenneth Moore is an Assistant Professor of Music Education and Director of the MM in Teaching Artistry program at Bowling Green State University (BGSU). He teaches undergraduate and graduate courses, focusing on music education history, pedagogy, and policy. Prior to his academic role, he spent 32 years in public schools, including 25 as director of bands and department chair at Dexter High School (MI), where he developed nationally recognized music programs. His work has been published in Contributions to Music Education, Journal of Historical Research in Music Education, Journal of Band Research, and others.
Moore holds a DMA in Music Education from Boston University, an MA in Trumpet Performance, and a BM in Music Education from Eastern Michigan University. He remains active as an adjudicator, clinician, and guest conductor. Awards include the MSBOA District 12 Teacher of the Year (3x), ASBDA Award of Excellence, and eight Dexter Most Influential Teacher Awards.
His research explores historical and policy dimensions of music education, with recent focus on band program sustainability and teacher training. Professional memberships span NASM, OMEA, SMTE, and MSBOA (emeritus).
