Kendra Thomson is an Associate Professor in the Department of Applied Disability Studies at Brock University and holds a part-time Scientist position at the Azrieli Adult Neurodevelopmental Centre at CAMH. She earned her PhD in Psychology from the University of Manitoba (2011), specializing in Applied Behavior Analysis, and completed a postdoctoral fellowship at York University (2013). Her research focuses on translating evidence-based behavioral strategies to empower individuals with neurodevelopmental disabilities, their families, and care providers. She has authored over 40 publications and serves as the lab director of the Thomson Lab, emphasizing community-engaged research. Key awards include the 2021 Jerry Shook Award from the Association of Professional Behavior Analysts.
Her educational background includes a PhD from the University of Manitoba and postdoctoral training at York University. She collaborates extensively with CAMH to advance clinical and research initiatives in neurodevelopmental disabilities and mental health.
Research interests include behavioral interventions for autism spectrum disorders, mental health support for individuals with intellectual disabilities, and caregiver training programs. Recent projects highlight telehealth applications, virtual education, and interprofessional collaboration in healthcare settings.
Dr. Thomson advises multiple graduate students and has led grants focused on improving quality of life for neurodivergent populations. Her lab emphasizes partnerships between academia and community organizations to ensure practical, impactful outcomes.
