Kenan Penaskovic

Dr. Kenan Penaskovic is an interim chair and faculty member at the UNC School of Medicine, serving as Vice Chair of Clinical Affairs and Assistant Dean for Student Affairs. He graduated from Auburn University and the University of Alabama-Birmingham School of Medicine, completed his residency at UNC, and later returned to the university in 2011 to lead the Psychotic Disorders Unit. A passionate medical educator, he pioneered team-based learning in psychiatry and won a national teaching award for his innovations.

His research interests span psychiatry, psychotic disorders, and medical education, with a focus on clinical leadership and mental health services. He has partnered on initiatives like the Psychiatry Coordination Team and inpatient telepsychiatry management for Jonas Hill Hospital.
