Kemp Jernigan

Kemp Jernigan serves as a Lecturer in Instrumental Performance at the Conservatory of Music, State University of New York at Purchase, and concurrently holds a faculty position at The Hartt School of The University of Hartford. An accomplished oboist, he maintains an active performance career across New York City and international venues.

Specializing in oboe performance and chamber music, Jernigan frequently collaborates with premier ensembles including the Orpheus Chamber Orchestra, Orchestra of St. Luke’s, and Mark Morris Dance Group Ensemble. As a founding member of SoundMind and guest artist at major festivals—Bridgehampton, White Mountains, Martha’s Vineyard, Ocean Reef, and Black Hills Chamber Music Society—he demonstrates exceptional versatility across diverse musical settings. His career embodies a commitment to artistic excellence and cross-disciplinary collaboration within classical performance traditions.

Jernigan actively contributes to music education through his dual faculty appointments, mentoring students in woodwind performance and ensemble techniques while maintaining a rigorous international performance schedule that bridges academic instruction with professional artistic practice.
