Professor Kelly Saxberg is a faculty member in the Department of History at Lakehead University. She is a dual specialist in film production and historical research, with a focus on labor, gender, and politics. Her work bridges academic scholarship and creative practice, having directed over 80 films and authored publications in film studies and art history.

Her research interests include labor history during World War II, particularly through the lens of Canada Car and Foundry workers, and the reciprocal cultural influences between Canadian and Finnish cinema. Currently, she is writing a book based on wartime worker interviews.
Recent publications highlight her interdisciplinary approach, analyzing intersections of film, art, and gender representation. For instance, her 2017 work explores transnational cinematic exchanges, while her 2015 article examines historical women artists' self-portraiture.
As an award-winning filmmaker, she has contributed to community projects like the Thunder Bay Museum film initiative and the Finnish Labour Temple preservation efforts. Her expertise is applied through workshops and teaching in film history and Women's Studies.
