Kelly Russell is an Associate Professor in the Department of Pediatrics and Child Health at the Max Rady College of Medicine, University of Manitoba, with a cross-appointment in Community Health Sciences. She serves as a Research Scientist at the Children’s Hospital Research Institute of Manitoba (CHRIM) and co-director of the Excellence in Neurodevelopment and Rehabilitation Research in Child Health (ENRRICH) Theme.

Dr. Russell's research centers on pediatric injury mechanisms and outcomes, with primary focus on concussion recovery trajectories, multi-disciplinary intervention strategies, and mental health sequelae following traumatic brain injury. Her work extends to telemedicine applications for Northern communities and the intersection of intimate partner violence with pediatric neurotrauma, emphasizing evidence-based clinical pathways and health equity.

Dr. Russell actively mentors graduate students and secures major research funding from the Canadian Institutes of Health Research, Research Manitoba, and the National Football League Scientific Advisory Board. Her lab prioritizes knowledge translation and community-engaged research methodologies.
As ENRRICH co-director, she leads a multidisciplinary consortium spanning pediatrics, nursing, rehabilitation sciences, and clinical psychology under Indigenous cultural guidance, driving innovations in neurodevelopmental care delivery across Manitoba's healthcare continuum.
