Kelly Gittens is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Social Work and Social Care within the Faculty of Health, Science, Social Care and Education at Kingston University. He is a registered social worker with over 20 years of experience, having practiced in the Caribbean and in UK Local Authority Child Protection Teams.
His educational background includes:
- Diploma in Social Pedagogy
- MA in Film, Video and New Screen Media
- BSc. (Hons.) in Social Work
Mr Gittens specializes in safeguarding and social pedagogy, with research interests focusing on working with men, particularly fathers, in the context of domestic violence. He is a Caring Dads Facilitator and utilizes film and storytelling to promote education and systemic change in social services. His creative works include a documentary series on Black and Ethnic minority male social workers and a film capturing 'Kingston Students Reflection of Social Pedagogy'.

Additionally, Mr Gittens serves as a Trustee for the Social Pedagogy Professional Association and teaches on the BA (Hons) Working with Children and Young People: Social Pedagogy programme with safeguarding specialization.
