Caroline Kelly is a Senior Lecturer in Social Work at Teesside University, affiliated with the Institute for Collective Place Leadership within the School of Social Sciences, Humanities and Law. She serves as Course Leader for the MA Social Work program and teaches safeguarding adults modules. Her career spans social work practice, policy advocacy, and education.
Education: BA Hons in Social Policy from Lancaster University (undergraduate), MA Social Work from the University of Edinburgh (postgraduate), with a focus on anti-discriminatory practice. She holds a Postgraduate Teaching qualification.
Research interests center on safeguarding adults and children, lifespan social work practice, legal policy, and community inclusion. Her work addresses barriers to independence for marginalized groups, including people with disabilities and older adults.
Selected publications include co-authored books on safeguarding practices and peer-reviewed analyses of safeguarding frameworks. She has contributed to interdisciplinary discussions on policy implementation and ethical practice in social care.
