Keith Maddox is Professor of Psychology at Tufts University and Director of the Tufts University Social Cognition (TUSC) Lab. He earned his PhD from University of California, Santa Barbara, and holds fellowships in APS, SPSP, and SPSSI. His research examines cognitive aspects of stereotyping and prejudice.
Key research areas include:
- Skin tone-based racial bias and stereotyping
- Perceptions of discrimination claims
- Stereotype threat mechanisms
- Social categories in spatial representation
Recent publications investigate implicit dehumanization patterns, phenotypicality bias pathways, and stigma's impact on face processing. His work consistently addresses diversity challenges in increasingly multicultural societies.
Honors include Tufts' Teaching and Mentoring Award, SPSSI's Jenessa Shapiro Award, and multiple NSF grants. He currently supervises doctoral students researching intersectional discrimination, interracial humor, and developmental bias formation.
As co-director of Diversity and Inclusion Leadership programs, he promotes equitable practices in academic and scientific communities.
