Katya Rubia is a Professor of Cognitive Neuroscience and Deputy Head of the Department of Child & Adolescent Psychiatry at King’s College London (KCL). She holds a transCampus® Professorship between KCL and Technische Universität Dresden. Her work focuses on neuroimaging (fMRI/PET) and neuropsychology of ADHD, ASD, OCD, and child abuse, with particular emphasis on neuromodulation techniques like fMRI neurofeedback and non-invasive brain stimulation.
Education:
- BA in Philosophy & Educational Sciences (1987), Complutense University of Madrid
- PhD in Neuropsychology (1994), Ludwig-Maximilians-University Munich
Research Interests: Neurodevelopmental disorders, brain imaging of normal development, pharmacological fMRI, PET imaging, and cognitive training. She leads studies on ADHD therapy interventions and neural mechanisms of cognitive control deficits.

Grants & Projects: Leads major studies including the NIHR DISCA ADHD sleep intervention, ATTENS trigeminal nerve stimulation trial, and MRC-funded fMRI neurofeedback projects. Collaborates internationally on neuroimaging meta-analyses.
Labs & Teams: Coordinates the Child Psychiatry Neuroimaging Group at IoPPN, focusing on translational neuroimaging research for psychiatric disorders.
